ANNAM. Gold Tien, ND (1820-41). Minh Mang. NGC AU-50.

ANNAM. Gold Tien, ND (1820-41). Minh Mang. NGC AU-50. Fr-2a; cf. KM-183 (silver); Sch-Unlisted. Weight: 3.77 gms. Obverse: Four Chinese characters "Current coin of Minh Mang Thong Bao" around sun; Reverse: Sun, moon, and five planets (Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter) among clouds. A VERY RARE gold Tien type of Minh Mang, the first example of this denomination we can recall offering to date. This uniface issue bears strong similarity in design to the presentation issue silver Tien (KM-183), and may have been issued for the same non-circulation purpose. Well struck, with ample detail to the characters evident despite the noted wear. Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000. Click here for certification details from NGC.

Estimate:£1,812.27
