Original ACI Manifesto “Road Etiquette – Examples Not to Imitate” – Automobile Club of Italy – 1950s Original educational manifesto of the Automobile Club of Italy (ACI), entitled “Road Etiquette – Examples Not to Imitate,” produced in the 1950s within national campaigns dedicated to road safety education. Through 15 illustrated panels, the manifesto teaches in a simple and effective way the correct behaviors and those to avoid by pedestrians and cyclists. The bottom section also lists the main road signs of the era and further advice dedicated to traffic safety. Unlike advertising posters, this copy is born as didactic and institutional material, intended for schools, public bodies, and road safety education initiatives promoted by the Automobile Club of Italy. Today it represents an interesting testimony of the Italian culture of the postwar period and constitutes a significant example of editorial graphics from the 1950s. The illustrations, characterized by the use of red and black colors and by an immediate narrative style, make the poster particularly decorative as well as of historical interest. The copy comes from a private collection and has been preserved for decades folded, as originally distributed, thus preserving its original characteristics. Condition The poster is original to the period and is not a modern reprint. It presents: * original fold lines for preservation; * natural yellowing of the paper due to time; * physiological patina of age; * slight signs of use compatible with an original paper document from the 1950s. Overall it is in good preservation condition, with a clearly legible print and still-vibrant colors. The photographs are an integral part of the description and faithfully document the object’s condition.
