Magnificent vintage didactic botanical board Jung–Koch–Quentell depicting flax, with a linen canvas support, complete with the beautiful wooden rods and brass suspension rings. Overall indicative dimensions: about 92 × 115 cm, including the rods. An object of extraordinary decorative impact, with a fascinating peculiarity: flax is both the subject of the illustration and the material of the canvas that supports it, whose weave is visible in the close-up photographs and on the back. On the black background the splendid blue flowers stand out, the bright green of the stems and the delicate branching of the roots. Around the plant, the enlargements of the flower, the seed capsules with seeds and the structure of the fibers create a composition that unites scientific precision and graphic beauty. The wooden rods in a warm honey tone, the brass rings and the closure ribbons add character to the whole. At the bottom there is the I.V.A.C. label of Le Havre; on the back the inscription “VLAS”, Dutch name for flax. The back photographs also document the textile support and its condition. A board capable of decorating a wall on its own, magnificent in a study, in a country house or paired with contemporary furnishings. **Good overall condition, with colors still vivid and a beautiful overall rendering.** There are two tears with small losses and fraying along the right edge, well documented in the photographs, in addition to some creases and normal signs of time, visible also on the back and on the rods. Elsewhere, the board is very well preserved. A piece full of personality, where the charm of old science classrooms meets the beauty of the plant world and the natural texture of linen canvas.
