Antieke bronzen fotolijst – rijk Rococo / Napoleon III decor – putto

Antique bronze photo frame – rich Rococo / Napoleon III decor – putto, flowers and rocailles A particularly decorative bronze table photo frame with an extravagant, almost sculptural form. The frame is richly decorated with curling rocailles, acanthus leaves, flowers and a finely modeled putto/cherub. The openwork ornamentation and asymmetrical volutes give the whole its characteristic Rococo Revival / Louis XV style appearance. Comparable richly decorated bronze photo frames with putti, flowers and rocailles are dated to the late 19th to early 20th century and are regularly described as French Napoleon III or Rococo Revival. The frame stands on two gracefully formed feet and has an impressive crown of leaf and flower motifs at the top. The fine relief is especially beautiful around the face of the putto, the roses and the curling ornaments. The photo frame is made of bronze. The surface has in the past been overcoated gold, so the current gold color is not offered as original gilding. On the back side, in the past, another/replacement stand has been fitted. This is not an original stand and is explicitly noted for a correct description of the object. A striking decorative object that looks excellent on a mantelpiece, console, desk, or in a collection of antique photo frames and bronze decorative objects.
