Antieke jeneverfles Blankenheym & Nolet – olijfgroen glas...

Antique genever bottle Blankenheym & Nolet – olive-green glass – probably circa 1850–1900 A characterful witness to the Dutch jenever trade. This fine bottle from Blankenheym & Nolet draws attention with its deep olive-green hue, bold square shape, and clearly readable letters in relief. The body tapers toward the base. The shoulders are rounded and transition into a short neck with a broad, dark-looking glass collar. Small air bubbles, fine vertical structuring, and irregularities give the glass a lively surface. In oblique light, the warm green-brown nuances come beautifully to the fore. Prominently on one side is the inscription ‘BLANKENHEYM & NOLET’. This Rotterdam jenever and liqueur distillery also brought its products to the international market. A bottle made for trade This type of square jenever bottle is known among collectors as a cellar bottle or case gin bottle. The angular shape made it possible to place several bottles compactly side by side in a transport crate. Similar labeled specimens are generally dated to the second half of the nineteenth century. On the basis of the form, the glass, and the workmanship, a dating for this bottle between about 1850 and 1900 is plausible. Characteristics * Historic jenever bottle with relief inscription ‘Blankenheym & Nolet’. * Connected to the Rotterdam distillery. * Dark olive-green glass. * Square cross-section with a body that narrows downward. * Rounded shoulders, short neck, and broad glass collar. * Visible air bubbles and irregularities in the glass. * Probable period: circa 1850–1900. * Offered as an empty collection bottle, without a cork. Condition Used condition with clear signs of use and age. The rim and glass collar are irregularly formed. Please view all overview and detail photos carefully; they are part of the description. A atmospheric collectible object for enthusiasts of old bottles, Dutch distilleries, and the history of the jenever trade.
