Antigua Bronze Bronze Celtiberian annular fibula — 4th–1st centuries BCE

Bronze Celtiberian annular fibula — 4th–1st centuries BCE. Culture: Celtiberian, Second Iron Age. Dating: 4th–1st centuries BCE. Cultural provenance: Iberian Peninsula, pre-Roman Celtiberian sphere. Material: Bronze. Description: Interesting Celtiberian annular fibula made of bronze, belonging to the tradition of decorative and clothing elements used by the pre-Roman peoples of the Iberian Peninsula during the Second Iron Age. This typology of brooches is characterized by its annular structure and its needle system, designed to fasten garments, especially mantles and capes. Fibulae constituted important elements of Celtiberian dress, combining a practical function with ornamental value and social representation. This type of piece is widely documented in archaeological sites of the Meseta and the Ebro valley, both in settlements and in funerary contexts associated with Celtiberian communities. Historical context: The Celtiberian culture achieved notable artisanal development in bronze and iron metallurgy. Their fibulae represent one of the most characteristic testimonies of preroman clothing and material culture, in a period marked by the development of large oppida and the first contacts with Rome.
