Today, we know clover primarily as a symbol of good luck. In earlier times, however, the leaves of this plant were also regarded as a symbol of love. For example, Gottfried von Strasbourg refers to this symbolism in his work "Tristan and Isolde" when Isolde wears a headdress made of clover leaves when she meets Tristan. The proverbial "green clover" also became a place of romantic encounters in medieval love poetry. In the lexicons of 19th century flower language, we find meanings such as "Think of me" or "Be mine" associated with the clover. No wonder, then, that the clover was also a popular motif in 19th century jewellery. This brooch from around the turn of the last century picks up on this old symbol. The piece of jewelry is made from 9-karat gold and designed in the shape of a three-leaf clover. The leaves are adorned with heart-cut violet amethysts, complemented by small pearls. The graceful brooch artfully showcases the gemstones and combines them with the clover's auspicious symbolism of love. An elegant highlight, a sparkling eye-catcher - and perhaps also a "souvenir d'amour"...
