Antique Flower Ring with Diamonds in Gold & Platinum, c. 1910

During the Early Victorian period, this language of flowers was one of the common means of nonverbal communication, and much of it has survived to this day in proverbs and idioms. At that time, young lovers in particular were unable to clearly articulate their thoughts or verbally express their affection. The language of flowers thus became an important means of communication without words. The “Daisy,” e.g., symbolized gentleness, the joyful playfulness of youth, pure and quiet joy, as well as modesty and love. It is precisely in this spirit that this exquisite ring, designed c. 1910, was created. Nine diamonds, totaling approximately 1.28 ct, are arranged like the petals of a daisy. A larger diamond occupies the center, surrounded on all sides by eight smaller stones. The gemstones are set in platinum, which further enhances the diamonds’ white light. A delicate yet sturdy yellow gold band completes the piece of jewellery. This beautifully crafted ring draws its charm entirely from the natural beauty of its luxurious materials, uniting them in a harmonious design. In the language of flowers, it is a wonderful gift of love!
