Antique French Art Deco Carpet, circa 1925–1935 - 9 ft 8 in x 7 ft

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique French Art Deco Carpet, circa 1925–1935 Size: 9 ft 8 in x 7 ft (2.95 m x 2.13 m) Provenance: Property of a Los Angeles dealer A sophisticated French Art Deco carpet reflecting the dramatic transformation of European decorative art between the two World Wars. Moving away from the dense ornament of nineteenth-century interiors, Art Deco designers embraced simplified geometry, stylized natural forms and assertive relationships between color and space. Its balanced proportions and distinctly modern visual language make this carpet equally appropriate for an Art Deco interior or as a graphic counterpoint in a contemporary setting. French carpets of this period occupy an important position at the intersection of fine craftsmanship, architecture and modern design.
