Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique Kuba Rug, Northeast Caucasus, late 19th century Size: 4 ft 9 in x 3 ft 6 in (1.44 m x 1.06 m) Provenance: Property of New York Collector A compact antique Kuba rug reflecting the finely articulated drawing and disciplined construction associated with the northeast Caucasus. Kuba weavers developed an extraordinary variety of designs, ranging from geometric medallions and floral lattices to stylized animals and dense repeating devices. Compared with the heavier drawing of many Kazak rugs, Kuba examples are often more finely woven and intricately patterned. Its small scale makes this an appealing collector’s rug and an excellent candidate for wall display. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #472 is in very good condition.
