The identification of corals is a science in itself. More than 5,000 different species live in the world's oceans at different water depths and with very different demands on their habitat. What they have in common, however, is their need for clear, clean water, which is why many species are threatened with extinction today, in times of global warming, microplastics and oil spills. The necklace here is made of coral from the Mediterranean Sea, of slightly flattened coral beads in a beautiful salmon colour and with very few surface features. A total of 99 pearls are assembled, which increase in size as they progress towards the center. The beads impress not only by their uniform colour, but also by their size. The central ball has a diameter of more than 11.3 mm. The original clasp made of gold shows in the form of two hands holding each other. We had the necklace re-strung and commissioned an appraisal to prove the rarity and value of the coral. We have discovered the necklace here in Berlin.
