Antique Oriental Pearl and Diamond Brooch, c. 1925

This brooch takes us on a walk through a wintery forest on the threshold of spring. At the top left, half obscured, a sun shines coolly onto the ice-sparkling landscape. Branches and leaves covered in hoar frost glisten between the snowdrifts and, lured by the sunlight, a single flower has dared to break through the still hard earth. As a blossom, it bears a special treasure: a genuine oriental pearl, whose silky sheen and faint pink overtone lend it an ethereal beauty. The scene is crafted in platinum on white gold and sawn by hand. Each individual diamond has been cut by hand and set in a setting that holds it with only tiny yet secure grains. The resulting appearance is crystalline and of an admirable perfection of craftsmanship. We were able to discover the beautiful brooch in Vienna. Its design and workmanship allow us to date it to around 1925.
