Celestial bodies were one of the most popular jewelry motifs in Victorian England. Whether crescent moons, suns or stars, they were all found on the décolletés and blouses of the ladies, set in diamonds for the evening and in gold for the day. Shimmering natural pearls and cabochon-cut turquoises adorn the surface of this star and are grouped around a glittering old-cut diamond in the center of the composition. The gemstones were favorites of the Victorian era and were often set in warm yellow gold, as is the case here. The color combination of pearls and turquoise still makes us dream of balmy summer nights at any time of year. The star can be worn as a brooch or pendant. With the help of a detachable pendant loop, it can be easily transformed in a matter of moments. As early as the 19th century, people were sure that once they had invested in a piece of jewellery, its versatility would pay off. We discovered the star in London and it was also once created in England.
