Two rich purple shimmering amethysts and white pearls form the setting of this pendant. The hexagonal amethyst, which is set as the heart of the pendant, is entwined with ornamental golden curves, whose airy composition lends the pendant a certain lightness despite its opulent format. The pendant is a typical British design from the early 20th century. Jewellery in warm, shiny gold with a rich setting of small pearls, known as "seed pearls" due to their size, was very fashionable, often accentuated with coloured gemstones. This gold jewellery was worn especially with daywear, which often consisted of a fitted costume of a long skirt, fitted jacket and elegantly draped blouse. The pendant came to us from London and was also made in Great Britain. We have added a matching, delicate gold chain to the pendant.
