Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique Persian Sarouk Farahan Rug circa 1900 Size: 10 ft 2 in x 8 ft 2 in (3.1 m x 2.49 m) Provenance: Property of a New Jersey collector A distinguished Sarouk Farahan with a deep midnight-blue field densely covered in flowering vines, palmettes and scrolling arabesques. Coral, salmon, ivory, and muted blue blossoms provide vivid contrast, while the broad rust-red border gives the composition warmth and authority. Antique Sarouk Farahan carpets are prized for combining refined classical drawing with the character and coloration associated with nineteenth-century village weaving. This attractive room-size example has both collector and decorative appeal.
