Antique Tile - Beautiful, stately dog. - Antique - 1800-1850

Splendid, authentic tile tableau consisting of 6 antique tiles (arranged 2 wide by 3 high). The tableau shows a characteristic, detailed image of a seated dog with a collar in a traditional Dutch landscape with a tree, water and a windmill in the distance. This tableau shows strong stylistic similarities to historical 18th-century and 19th-century Frisian pottery (such as the well-known pieces from Makkum). Subject: Hand-painted blue-and-white image of a dog in a landscape. Technique: Traditional tin glaze with a beautiful rich gloss, subtle hand-made waviness in the surface and a fine, natural craquelure. The blue painting has flowed beautifully into the glaze. Size per tile: approx. 13 x 13 cm (standard antique size). Total dimensions: approx. 27 cm wide x 40 cm high. Condition: In very neat, authentic condition. The glaze has remained beautifully clear (see detail photos for texture and gloss).
