Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875) - after - Sculpture

An impressive bronze sculpture portraying a majestic lion in a reclining pose. The detailed mane, muscular form and confident expression give the piece a powerful presence, symbolising strength, authority and dignity. This true-to-nature display is made after the work by the famous french sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875). Barye was known for his realistic animal bronzes. Dimensions: 15 x 25 cm. Weight: 4.1 kg. Signature: Barye. Condition: excellent (see images). The sculpture is made of a good quality bronze, that wears a warm brown patina, and it is mounted on a tiered marble plateau. A very decorative animal art piece with classical elegance!
