Partially erased signature on the base: “BARYE.” Barye Studio H. 160 mm W. 195 mm A similar model is listed and reproduced under no. A 54, p. 179, in *Barye: Catalogue Raisonné of Sculptures*, by M. Poletti and A. Richarme, Gallimard, Verona, 2000. Provenance: estate of Amélie Antoinette Houdart, second wife of Antoine-Louis Barye, then passed down through her descendants.
