Aransas Pass, Texas. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. First NB. Charter #10274. PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15. Organized in 1912, the First National Bank of Aransas Pass (Charter# 10274) is a tough prospect for collectors with just 12 non-institutional notes recorded overall by the National Bank Note Census. Yet the recorded population fails to adequately strike at the numismatic reality for this institution. Auction offerings are at best infrequent and often years apart while a distinct degree of interest is readily reflected by past realizations. The last T1 $5 that sold on this charter realized no less than $1,560 at auction despite a comment for "Minor Rust" applied by PMG which suggests that this well-circulated, but honest survivor is bound to see strong interest from bidders. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
