ARGENTINA. Banco de Buenos-Ayres. 1 Peso, ND (1827-29). P-S328r. Remainder. PMG About Uncirculated 50. A curious provisional issue that features the portrait of Simón Bolívar and George Washington, two men who had little if anything to do with Argentina. According to Bauman, this provisional issue was first ordered in 1825 from Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Co. in Philadelphia but could not be delivered for several years due to the Brazilian blockade of Argentine ports. To save time, the Banco Nacional requested the printer to use vignettes already prepared, which led to the odd designs. PMG Comments "Trimmed, Corner Tip Missing."
