Pair of Mid-Century Cocktail Chairs – “Expo 58” Style – Vintage Textile Upholstery – 1950s/60s For sale is a stylish pair of compact mid-century cocktail chairs from postwar Europe. The two chairs are characterized by their distinctive sculpturally tapering padding, the lightly flared back, and four conically tapering wooden legs. The design corresponds to the type of classic European cocktail chairs from the 1950s and early 1960s and shows clear formal parallels with the chairs from this era often referred to as “Expo 58” Belgian chairs. A specific manufacturer or designer attribution cannot be unambiguously established from the available features. Particularly attractive is the warm terracotta-colored upholstery fabric with a finely textured geometric diamond pattern. The texture gives the chairs a decidedly distinctive vintage aesthetic and harmonizes with the darker wooden legs. The classic, compact form makes the pair interesting for both mid-century interiors and contemporary living concepts. Both chairs show age- and wear-related traces that contribute to an authentic vintage character. A decorative and functional pair of European mid-century cocktail chairs with a pronounced 1950s/60s aesthetic.
