Arnon Grunberg / Gregory Cole - Het aanwezige been - 2025

In the spring of 2025 a new gem appeared at Statenhofpers in The Hague. This time a story by Arnon Grunberg (which would later be included in his eponymous collection of stories) illustrated with a painting by the hand of the main character. ‘The Leg in Question’ by Arnon Grunberg tells the story of Gregory Cole, an insurance agent and former artist of sculptures and paintings of tractors. Although the character Cole sprang from the author's imagination, the artist could yet be traced. Cole, after some persuasion, agreed to have a reproduction of one of his tractor paintings, ‘Nuffield 65 frontloader’, included in the book. He also agreed to sign the book. The book was set in Monotype Goudy Old Style and printed on rag Madrid Litho. The reproduction of the painting was produced as a piëzography. The volume comprises 36 pages. One hundred copies were bound by Binderij in de Nok in half-leather with boards overlaid with hand-made Nepali Khadi. The book was signed by both author and artist. This is number 89. As new. NB! As is often the case, the color of the cover shown here does not match reality. The handsome cover is not brown but orange. Let it be noted.
