Art Vannes - Bowl - Crystal, Stone - Abstract

This singular Art Vannes crystal bowl, crafted around the mid-20th century, is a magnificent expression of French decorative design inspired by the organic and sculptural forms that characterized postwar modernist aesthetics. The piece stands out for its dynamic, fluid profile, conceived as a large sheet of molded crystal that seems to unfold in space with the lightness of a sail in the wind or the movement of a wave. The transparent crystal, worked with great mastery, presents broad curves, folds, and asymmetric elevations that generate a sense of continuous movement. Its smoothly undulating edges capture and reflect light from multiple angles, creating visual effects that change and enhance the material’s purity and transparency. This sculptural quality makes the piece a contemplative object both for its utilitarian function and for its decorative value. The bowl rises upon a solid mottled stone base, whose sober geometry creates an attractive contrast with the crystal’s lightness and fluency. The join between the two elements is resolved through discreet metallic details with a silvered finish, which add a refined accent and emphasize the elegant character of the composition. The combination of crystal, stone, and metal reflects mid-20th-century taste for integrating diverse materials within sophisticated and architectural designs. For its balanced fusion of sculpture and functionality, this Art Vannes piece represents an excellent example of French decorative glass of its era, ideal as a centerpiece, ornamental fruit bowl, or accent element in Mid-Century Modern, contemporary, or late Art Déco interiors. Its light, elegant presence brings luminosity, sophistication, and a marked artistic character to any space. Certified shipping and careful packaging.
