Title Hand-carved wooden decorative console – presumably India, circa 1900 – 74 cm Characterful, heavy wooden architectural console with rich hand-carved leaf motifs, graceful volutes and a geometric ornamental edge. The deep relief and the warm wood color make this architectural fragment a striking decorative object. The shape and the attached mounting parts indicate original use as a console under a beam, balcony or eave. Probably originating from India and dating to around 1900, with an estimated period of the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century. Provenance and age are not documented. Executed in solid hardwood; the exact wood type has not been determined. Dimensions: approximately 74 × 18 × 11 cm. Quantity: one piece. Condition In a well-worn state, with drying cracks, wear, localized wood loss and remnants of an older surface finish. The mounting holes are still present.
