ATTIQUE — ATHÈNES Magnificent silver tetradrachm, circa 454–404 BC. Avers: helmeted head of Athena to the right, the eye represented facing forward. She wears an Attic crested helmet, adorned with olive leaves and a palmette; earring and necklace. Revers: owl standing to the right, head facing forward; in the left field, olive branch and crescent; to the right, ΑΘΕ. All within a recessed square. Athena's portrait is particularly expressive and preserves fine details. Reverse well legible with the owl, olive branch and the legend ΑΘΕ clearly visible. Cracks present as a result of striking characteristic of this coinage. Weight: 17.29 g Metal: silver Exemplary from an ancient collection, sublime patina of a medallist.
