Exceptional and authentic traditional warrior necklace from Nagaland (Northeast India / borders with Myanmar). This ritual and identity adornment, highly symbolic, belonged to a distinguished member of the Naga community. In Naga culture, every element composing a piece of jewelry carries a precise social and spiritual meaning. Pig tusk pendant: Masterpiece made of a double wild boar tusk, solidly assembled and tied at its center by a tight traditional weave in vegetal fibers (rattan). The tusk of such a formidable animal symbolized strength, courage in battle, and the status of a great hunter of the wearer. Brass/Bronze bells: A series of spherical bells cast in lost-wax technique, adorned with geometric relief motifs. Beyond their aesthetic aspect, the tinkle of these bells played an apotropaic role (aimed at averting misfortune) to ward off evil spirits during travel and ceremonies. They bear a beautiful patina of use, dark and earthy, embedded in the crevices. Glass beads: A row of tubular seed beads in red (a color highly valued by the Nagas, symbolizing blood, fire, and vitality) alternated with blue disc beads. The irregularities in shape and surface confirm ancient glass craftsmanship. Original mounting: A crucial element for the authenticity of this collectible piece, the whole is structurally assembled on its original cotton-twisted / traditional plant fiber thread (visible in macro shots). The absence of modern nylon thread guarantees that this is an era field object and not a tourist copy. Details of the object: Type of object: Prestige necklace / Tribal adornment Ethnicity: Naga (Hill Tribes of Nagaland) Geographic origin: Northeast India / Assam region Era / Period: Mid-20th century Materials: Wild boar tusks, brass/bronze, glass paste beads, rattan cords, indigenous cotton thread. Condition: Very good state of preservation with a pronounced and authentic patina from use. Solid structure, no modern restoration to note.
