Basket - Silverplated - Art Nouveau basket

Art Nouveau decorated bread basket with a swing hinge, silver-plated, c. 1900–1910 Description: Silver-plated basket with a movable bail in Art Nouveau / Secession style. The bowl has a square shape with indented, wavy corners and a grooved edge. The handle is sleekly geometric, with rectangular and triangular cutouts that are typical for the Vienna Secession and German Jugendstil. The handle pivots on two hinges. In the center of the bottom there is a round white medallion with a blue motif of looped shapes and triangles. Dimensions and weight: Length: 23 cm Total height with handle: 19 cm Height of the bowl: 7 cm Weight: 336 g Material: Silver-plated. No stamps or marks observed. Condition: Light signs of use: small scratches and light wear to the silver plating, especially on the bottom. The bail moves well and the piece is stable. No dents or repairs known.
