A beautiful and highly collectible early UK stereo pressing of The Beatles' Revolver, issued on Parlophone under catalogue number PCS 7009. This is the desirable second stereo pressing, still carrying the original -1 / -1 matrix combination, but featuring the corrected "Doctor Robert" spelling on the record label. What makes this example particularly interesting is that it is housed in the earlier sleeve which still lists the track as "Dr. Robert", while the record label itself reads "Doctor Robert". Early copies of Revolver originally appeared with the abbreviated title "Dr. Robert". The wording on the record label was subsequently corrected to "Doctor Robert", while existing stocks of the earlier "Dr. Robert" sleeves continued to be used. This resulted in an interesting transitional combination where the early sleeve and corrected label appear together, as on the present copy. For Beatles collectors, these small printing and label changes provide a fascinating insight into how Parlophone pressings evolved during the original period of manufacture. Despite being the second pressing, this stereo issue retains the early matrix combination of XEX 605-1 / XEX 606-1. The continuation of these original matrix cuts is an important feature of early stereo copies of Revolver. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): A particularly attractive original UK flipback sleeve. The front panel presents beautifully, retaining a clean appearance with strong overall presentation and notably sharp corners. The rear is likewise very clean, with only some slight age-related yellowing around the upper portion of the flipback, which remains relatively minor. Considering its age, this is a genuinely impressive original sleeve → EX Inner Sleeve: Original inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG+): The vinyl retains a very nice original shine. Both sides show multiple superficial lines and light signs of handling when viewed under direct light. On Side 2 there is also a more visible scratch during "Good Day Sunshine", though this mark is not audible during playback and does not significantly affect the listening experience. Taking the visible surface marks into account while considering the strong playback quality → VG+ ⸻ Details * UK stereo second pressing * Parlophone PCS 7009 * "Dr. Robert" (sleeve) / "Doctor Robert" (label) variation * Flipback sleeve * Original inner sleeve included ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * XEX 605-1 / XEX 606-1 * Stampers: 3 PAH / 1 MR
