Offered is a very well preserved part of a woolly mammoth ivory tusk part found in Germany in the former rhine river with low water level lately. It‘s in a very good condition and covered with varnish and from the ice age period. Mammoths are an extinct genus of elephants. They originated in Africa during the Miocene-Pliocene epoch transition and subsequently colonized Europe, Asia, and North America. The last representatives of the mammoths, belonging to the most well-known species, the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius), died out only about 4,000 years ago on Wrangel Island in northern Siberia.
