Belgium – 7 × 50 franc 1958 and 1960 – Expo 58 and the wedding of Baudouin and Fabiola – Silver Lot of seven Belgian silver 50 franc commemorative coins, featuring two well-known designs from the reign of King Baudouin. Four specimens from 1958, issued on the occasion of the World’s Fair in Brussels. The design shows the portrait of King Baudouin and the Grand Place in Brussels with the town hall and the Expo ’58 emblem. Three specimens with French inscription and one with Dutch inscription. Three specimens from 1960, issued on the occasion of the wedding of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola on 15 December 1960. With the joint portraits, the wedding date in Roman numerals, and the crowned coats of arms. Both designs are by Carlos Van Dionant. Silver content: 835/1000. Diameter: 30 mm per coin. Standard weight: 12.5 grams per coin. Theoretical total weight: 87.5 grams. Theoretical fine-silver weight: about 73.06 grams. The coins show clear portrait and design details, with differences in patina and signs of wear. Some specimens have localized green corrosion. View the photos for your own assessment.
