Great commemorative medal dedicated to the banking and architectural history of the Belgian Congo, covering the period 1909–1959. The medal features two architectural depictions accompanied by the inscriptions: « MATADI 1909 » and « LÉOPOLDVILLE 1959 » It thus commemorates half a century of history between the settlements of Matadi and Leopoldville, today Kinshasa. The medal is presented in its original case. A piece of particular interest for a collection devoted to Congo’s history, to the Belgian presence in Africa, to banking history, or to 20th-century commemorative medals. Condition: good overall with an aged patina and some signs of age and handling. The case also shows marks of age.
