Special Belgian bronze commemorative plaque from 1932, dedicated to Jules Vanhulst, a prominent figure within various Belgian colonial and African organizations. The plaque was designed by Belgian sculptor and medalist Jacques Marin (1877–1950). On the front there is a large portrait of Jules Vanhulst looking to the left. To the left is the year 1932, to the right the text “SES AMIS” and at the bottom “JULES VANHULST”. The plaque is signed by the artist. The reverse bears at the top a large five-pointed star and lists the various positions of Jules Vanhulst: Président – Association des Intérêts Coloniaux Belges – 1924–1928 Cercle Royal Africain – 1926–1927 Comité Monument Stanley – 1927–1932 An interesting historical collectible directly connected to Belgian colonial history and the organizations around Belgian Congo in the interwar period.
