This is a 19th-century French bridal dome (also known as a globe de mariée or Napoleon III bridal dome). Features of this bridal dome: • Glass dome: A mouth-blown glass dome resting on a black wood or blackened wood (ebony-look) pedestal. • Interior: The interior is made of gilded metal (ormolu/brass) with finely worked leaves, flowers and a small mirror in the center. • Velvet cushion: In the center sits a red velvet cushion (often tufted).
