Technique: burned matches on cardboard Dimensions of the work: 50 × 65 cm Dimensions with frame: 66 × 81 cm Year: 1973 Signature: signed and dated by the artist on the back Provenance: Centro Gallery, Brescia, as documented by the original label on the back Authenticity: work archived and accompanied by an authenticity certificate from the Bernard Aubertin Works Archive The work has recently been framed with an opaque white wooden frame, inner passe-partout and 3 mm shatterproof plexiglass, a solution that protects the work while preserving readability and the original material. Le Dessin de Feu constitutes one of the most characteristic cores of Bernard Aubertin's research. Through the action of fire, the artist directly transforms the matches and the support, making the traces of combustion an integral part of the work. The scorching, color variations and alterations visible on the cardboard are therefore natural and intentional consequences of the artistic procedure. Dating to 1973 places the work in the historical phase of the early seventies, a period in which Aubertin develops his research on fire, on the red monochrome, on the Tableaux Clous, on Allumettes and on Dessins de Feu, within the context of the European avant-garde linked to the ZERO movement. Provenance from Centro Gallery in Brescia, the autograph signature on the back and archival documentation further contribute to the collecting relevance of the work. Conditions: excellent, compatible with age, technique and nature of the work. The traces of combustion and alterations of the support visible in the photographs are part of the artist's technique and do not constitute defects. Sold with frame and certificate of authenticity. Shipping via express courier with professional packing and particular care to protect the work and the frame.
