All auctions / Ethnographical / Bertrand Goy & Hughes Dubois - Ancient Arts of Mali...
This exceptional reference work by Bertrand Goy, enriched with the masterful photography of Hughes Dubois, is regarded as one of the most authoritative publications on the early art history of Mali. The book was published in 2007 in a limited edition by Galerie Renaud Vanuxem in Paris and has long been out of print and sought after by collectors worldwide. Goy documents, in a scholarly manner, the iconography, dating, and ritual context of early Malian sculptures. This specific work aligns seamlessly with bibliographic standards as used in the catalogs of leading auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s (comparable to the reference works in the libraries of renowned experts such as Hubert Goldet or Pierre Harter). This copy forms a perfect unity with other high-quality ethnographic publications in this auction. Bidders are advised to view the remaining lots in this auction as well, for a unique opportunity to build a specialized library in one go. Absolute 'Collectors Grade': This copy is in neat mint condition. Given its age (19 years old) and the deep black, matte cover, the edition is extremely sensitive to fingerprints and handling marks. However, this particular book is almost unopened; the pages still cling slightly to each other due to the specific ink finish, and the original printer’s odor is present. To optimally safeguard the integrity of the spine and binding, the photos were taken with a minimal opening angle of less than 100°. No creases, no internal discoloration, and absolutely free of signs of use. Note to bidders: This auction will feature several high-quality ethnographic publications including Africa, Oceania, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. A unique opportunity for building or expanding a specialized art-historical library. Shipping is conducted with Track & Trace and professional, shock-resistant packaging. When purchasing multiple lots I apply a fair adjustment to the shipping costs, appropriate to the total volume and insured value. Pickup is possible in The Hague, Benoordehout (2596GN).
