Black Chalama Opal Pendant / cabochon / new- 1.46 g - (1)

Pendant Black Chalama Opal / Cabochon / new Set in 925 Sterling Silver Includes leather cord (80 cm) Weight: 1.46 g (weighed without leather cord) 15.6 mm x 8.8 mm x 6.0 mm New and unworn Black opals, like their differently colored counterparts, occur as globular to nodular masses with no discernible crystal structure. Their beauty usually reveals itself only when this mass is cut and polished. Characteristic for this form of opals is their opalescence, which appears in a vivid rainbow sheen. Additionally, the host rock of the opal here is dark, grayish to black, which gave it this name. Black opals form, just like other opals, from silica-rich fluids that crystallize in sedimentary or volcanic rocks. Their characteristic shimmer is due to water inclusions within the mineral. Shipping as insured registered mail.
