Board game - vintage sovjet-russisch houten schaakspel...

Beautiful and iconic vintage Russian chess set from the late Soviet period (the 1980s). This beloved collector's item is known in Russia as "Сказочное царство" (Fairy-tale Kingdom). In the West the set is especially famous for its unique design: the chess pieces are stylized as traditional, charming Matryoshka dolls. Features: • Craftsmanship: Each piece is hand-painted and given a characteristic face. Even the knights are beautifully shaped as wooden horse heads. • Color scheme: The set consists of one side with red-orange-white tones and a side with blue-orange-white tones. • Board: The wooden chessboard also serves as a storage case for the pieces and closes with metal latches. An absolute eye-catcher for both chess enthusiasts and collectors of vintage Soviet design and Russian folk art. Condition: In good, used vintage condition. The board and pieces show light signs of aging and patina that suit the age, contributing to the authentic character. (Note: please carefully check the photos for the exact cosmetic condition) Shipped insured.
