Beautiful antique silver bonbon basket – boat-shaped model with bow and flower garlands – Firma Anthonie Begeer – ca. 1900 Description: Offered is a very refined, antique Dutch silver bonbon basket in a classic boat/ship shape, standing on four elegant feet. The basket is richly pierced all around (ajour sawn) with an elegant clover and diamond motif. The raised rims are decorated with a soldered bow with graceful flower garlands (festons) that beautifully drape over the walls. On the sides there are two twisted handles with a classical decorative element in the middle. The basket is in excellent, undamaged antique condition with no fractures in the fine meshwork. The silver stamps are clearly captured by macro photography on the bottom and the edge. Specifications and marks: • Silversmith: Firma Anthonie Begeer (Utrecht / Voorschoten), assayed with master mark AB (with number/symbol) in a hexagonal shield. • Hallmark: Assayed with the Lion Passant I (great silver mark for 1st quality Dutch silver, .934 pure silver). • Assay Office: Schoonhoven, assayed with the Minerva head + M in the helmet. • Weight: 160.49 grams (exact digitally weighed). • Model: Oval boat-shaped model on 4 feet with 2 handles.
