In-8, paperback, printed beige cover with flaps, 97 pp. A curious work consisting of a reproduction of an erotic catalog from Maison Richard, Paris, 1902, offering clandestine or licentious books, engravings, and photographs, postcards, aphrodisiacs, contraceptives, and various accessories. The document is particularly interesting as a testament to the clandestine book trade and the erotic commerce at the turn of the 20th century. It includes descriptions of the photographic series offered to customers, their formats and prices, as well as the precautions taken for their shipment. The photographed page is revealing: “All our letters are sealed and stamped, and our shipments are sealed and discreet.” The series are presented in the form of “reference cards,” designed to allow customers to select the photographs later. Condition: generally good; cover slightly faded and rubbed, some signs of wear; interior clean.
