Rare Art Deco Ensemble: Desk Lamp and Matching Bookends – Gazelles in Régule & Marble (circa 1930) A superb complete decorative set from the Art Deco era (circa 1930) comprising a pair of sculptural bookends and its matching desk lamp. A harmonious, elegant ensemble that is highly representative of the animalier style of the period. Artistic features and materials: Subjects: gazelles/antelope in full gallop on a finely stylized vegetal base. Sculptures: Regule patinated metal (golden bronze tones with antique green highlights on the foliage). Bases: Bookends: Deep black marble with beveled straight corners. Lamp: Rose-and-white veined marble plaque. Glassware: Frosted obelisk/tulip-shaped shade in translucent striped glass, heat-fired painted, providing a soft diffusion of light.
