Antique boxwood netsuke of traditional theater miniature carving, depicting the mask of a Tengu, the legendary mountain spirit and avian patron of martial arts in Japanese folklore. Sculpted from a single piece of dense, finely grained boxwood, the mask captures the creature's formidable and powerful character, highlighted by a prominently extended big nose, intensely bulging eyes under heavy, furrowed brows, and a deeply contoured mouth curved into a fierce expression. The tactile toggle displays a highly polished, warm honey-brown patina, with dark-stained details precisely applied to the recessed grooves of the skin folds and hair strands to maximize visual dimension. Signed on verso. Dimensions: 1.5"W x 2"H Country of Origin: Japan Weight: 1.1 oz Condition Request Condition Report Good
