Bruichladdich has brought back the Still Series. That alone is news: the original opaque, colour-coded trio from the mid-2000s has a small cult following, and the distillery left the concept alone for nearly two decades. Greener Still is the fourth chapter, and it flips the whole idea on its head. Where the first three were built around the cask, this one is built around the field. Bruichladdich Greener Still is a 15-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 51.6% ABV, matured for its entire life in first-fill bourbon barrels and rested solely on Islay. The hook is what goes into the wash, not what the spirit sits in afterwards. Greener Still is distilled from three distinct barley parcels: Bere, an ancient landrace grain; Biodynamic barley; and Organic barley. The bourbon cask is deliberately kept in a supporting role so the grain can lead. Bruichladdich Greener Still official tasting notes Nose: Soft florals Palate: Ripe orchard fruit, honeyed sweetness, malt-driven texture, gentle spice Finish: Velvety, with a lick of vanilla and coastal freshness ABV: 51.6% | Cask: First-fill bourbon barrels | Age: 15 years
