Canadian. An 18th-century single-drawer pine buffet from Hôtel-Dieu Québec with two doors and an overhanging top with a thumbnail-moulded edge. The double-raised door panels are surrounded by a heavy molded frame, and the doors have the original pin and barrel "gond" hinges. Fitted backboards with pegged construction and dovetailed drawers. The drawer retains an ink stamp, "Musée Historique, l' Hôtel-Dieu de Québec". Overpaint removed, but traces of original red paint and red wash remain. Quebec. 18th century.
