This antique Burmese sterling silver box is crafted in a distinctive half-moon (demi-lune) or crescent silhouette, a traditional form historically utilized in Southeast Asia as a lime or betel nut container. The exterior showcases exemplary craftsmanship, utilizing intricate repousse and chasing techniques to achieve striking, high-relief dimensions. The hinged lid is bordered by fine beaded textures that frame detailed, central floral scrolling and foliate medallions. Encircling the curved vertical walls are distinct medallions featuring stylized animal motifs separated by ribbed pillared panels. Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 XRF Precious Metal Analyzer tested.
