Original Japanese promotional set for Sergio Corbucci’s cult Spaghetti Western Navajo Joe (1966), starring Burt Reynolds, Nicoletta Machiavelli and Fernando Rey, with music by Ennio Morricone. This lot consists of two original Japanese cinema promotional pieces from the Japanese release campaign: • 1 Japanese B2 movie poster, approx. 51.5 × 72.8 cm • 1 Japanese B3-size promotional press sheet, approx. 51.5 × 36.4 cm when unfolded The B2 features a striking close-up portrait of Burt Reynolds as Navajo Joe, revolver in hand, combined with the Monument Valley landscape and Japanese typography. The Japanese title is さすらいのガンマン (Sasurai no Ganman). The accompanying B3 press sheet is particularly interesting. Its colour front uses an alternative horizontal composition, while the reverse contains extensive Japanese production notes, synopsis, cast and crew information and photographic material. It provides an attractive companion piece to the theatrical poster and gives the lot additional historical and collectible interest. Directed by Sergio Corbucci, one of the major filmmakers of the Italian Western genre, Navajo Joe has become a cult title, further distinguished by its memorable score composed by Ennio Morricone under the pseudonym Leo Nichols. Condition: Both pieces show signs of age and use consistent with original cinema promotional material. The B2 has a visible horizontal fold and some handling wear, particularly around the edges and corners. The B3 press sheet has its original central fold and minor handling marks.
