Byzantine Bronze Ornamental belt applique with double...

Bronze ornamental fitting with double loop and decoration of concentric circles Attributed culture: Byzantine Chronology (approximate): 6th–9th centuries CE Material: Copper alloy (bronze) Typology: Ornamental pierced hardware Interesting piece of ancient metalwork, made of bronze castings and characterized by its singular geometric composition and its elaborate incised decoration. It presents an elongated rectangular body, ornamented by a succession of concentric circles with central dot, distributed in distinct registers delimited by transverse moldings. One of its ends culminates in an elegant pierced terminal formed by two symmetric circular openings, creating an ornamental composition of particular appeal. Its configuration resembles the small metal accessories used in the fastening and ornamentation systems of straps, belts, and other everyday objects. The surface preserves an attractive patina of dark green, brown, and copper tones, with surface deposits and wear that accentuate the details of its decoration. A singular piece for archaeological collecting, distinguished by its geometry, its ornamentation of concentric circles, and its excellent visual presence.
