Ca. AD 600 - 800. A bronze polycandelon with a circular openwork frame, scalloped outer edge and broad central opening. The surrounding register is divided into radial compartments with six oval lamp holders alternating with crosses. It is suspended from three original chains joined to a trefoil-shaped upper fitting. For similar see: Bonhams, Antiquities, 30.11.2016, Lot 93. Size: 400mm x 230mm; Weight: 680g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier present on the French art market in the 1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
