A beautiful Byzantine-style bronze coin pendant featuring one of the most revered images in Christian art — Jesus Christ holding the Holy Gospel, accompanied by a magnificent cross with sacred lettering on the reverse. Christ Pantocrator — The Almighty The front depicts a solemn, frontal image of Jesus Christ, traditionally known in Byzantine iconography as Christ Pantocrator, meaning Christ the Almighty or Ruler of All. Christ is shown holding the Holy Gospel, representing divine wisdom, spiritual truth and the teachings of Christianity. The image of Christ was of profound religious importance throughout the Byzantine world. His appearance on imperial coinage expressed the close relationship between Christian faith and the authority of the Byzantine Empire. The Holy Gospel — The Word of God The sacred book held by Christ symbolises the Gospel and the divine teachings that guided Christian life. In Byzantine religious imagery, the Gospel represents enlightenment, truth, salvation and spiritual guidance. For a modern wearer, this powerful image may evoke faith, hope, wisdom and the enduring presence of divine protection. The Sacred Cross — Symbol of Faith and Victory The reverse features a striking cross-shaped design, surrounded by prominent stylised letters and symbols. The cross was the supreme emblem of Christianity, representing the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Throughout Byzantine history, it also became a symbol of spiritual triumph, divine guardianship and the hope of eternal life. The combination of Christ holding the Gospel and the sacred cross creates a meaningful visual expression of Christian devotion. A Wearable Expression of Byzantine Heritage The pendant presents an impressive circular design with deeply textured relief, green-brown patinated tones and distinctive Byzantine-inspired religious imagery. Completed with a modern silver-coloured suspension ring and chain, it offers an evocative combination of historical design and contemporary wearable presentation. A symbolic union of the Holy Gospel and the Sacred Cross — representing faith, divine wisdom, spiritual protection and the triumph of light over darkness.
