BYZANTINE OPENWORK HIGH KARAT GOLD DOMED RING WITH CENTRAL RED GARNET CABOCHON
Ca. AD 600 A gold ring with a solid, rounded hoop rising to prominent shoulders with granulated rosettes and tight wire coils. The bezel is encircled by a frieze of circles, and on the upper face, a four-armed gold rib forms a cross, the intersection with a small collet set with a red stone cabochon. Size: D:12mm / US: 1/2 / UK: A; Weight: 2.6g. Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in a German private collection before 2000. .
