C. 1930 Gene Tunney & Bobby Jones Coca-Cola Sign

Offered here is a rare single sided cardboard Coca-Cola sign featuring two sports legends Gene Tunney and Bobby Jones. Gene Tunney was one of boxing’s leading figures of the 1920s, holding the world heavyweight championship from 1926 to 1928. He is best remembered for his two bouts with Jack Dempsey, including his 1927 victory in the famous “Long Count” fight, and retired with a professional record of 65 wins, one loss and one draw. Bobby Jones was the dominant amateur golfer of the 1920s, winning 13 major championships between 1923 and 1930. He remains the only golfer to complete the Grand Slam of all four major championships in the same calendar year, accomplishing the feat in 1930 before retiring from competitive golf at age 28. An early sports advertising collaboration, the sign connects the two athletes to Coca-Cola through the slogan "All-Time Favorites".
